This ultralight shaped tarp takes the challenge out of pitching a tarp – its easy to put up and offers excellent coverage compared to a regular flat tarp. If you are put off the complexity of pitching a flat tarp and want something lightweight to keep the rain off your sleeping bag or bivvy bag then this is ideal. It can be used with the sides touching the ground or raised up in warmer weather.  Its low profile makes it perfect for wild or stealth camping.

It weighs just 377g (including guy lines, pegs and the stuff sack, but NOT including the poles).

You could use this with just a groundsheet or our recommendation would be to use our Tyvek bivvy bag  to give you better protection.  This would give you a shelter setup 583g in weight (plus poles).  

If you are a hiker using trekking poles then these are ideal for the front and rear of the tarp, otherwise you can use sticks, old tent poles or better still, a carbon pole from Bear Bones.  I would expect this pole to weigh around 50g.  Poles  (Select the 100cm poles for £32).  Cyclists could use the handlebars of their bike (lying on its side) as a substitute for the shorter rear pole.

It is ideal for one person to sleep in (with room for gear and/or a dog or two!) but can also be used comfortably for two people. It is also small and lightweight enough to take on a day ride/hike to use as a lunch shelter if the rain came on. 100cm in height at the open end is plenty for most people to sit up in easily and this can be increased to around 120cm if you use an adjustable pole.

This shaped tarp is made of strong, lightweight, waterproof 15D silnylon and has all seams fully taped so there is no need to mess around with seam sealant on arrival.  15D silnylon is a very strong, lightweight fabric normally seen on high-end tents. Pitched with the foot end towards the wind it will offer good protection from the elements.  It has ultra-lightweight guy lines with line-locs and tension adjusters – again normally something seen on high-end products.
